- Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing mild soap (such as Dawn® or equivalent) with water according to the manufacturer's recommended concentration. Prepare the solution in a container large enough to fully immerse the pessary.
- Immerse the instrument in the container with the mixed cleaning solution for at least 5 minutes.
- After soaking, brush the instrument with a soft brush, such as a toothbrush, for at least 15 seconds. Brush the pessary under water to prevent aerosolization of harmful substances. Check the pessary for visible residue after brushing.
- Remove the pessary from the cleaning solution and rinse thoroughly under running water for 30 seconds.
- Allow the instrument to dry.
