Follow-up with the healthcare professional

After the pessary has been inserted, you will need to attend several follow-up appointments relatively quickly. The doctor will check that everything is in order and will remove and reinsert the pessary. The doctor will then determine with you when you should attend regular check-ups. This is usually a few times a year.

Always contact your healthcare professional if you experience any problems. The following side effects sometimes occur:

• bleeding outside of menstruation
• pressure in the abdomen or vagina
• abnormal discharge, pain, and irritation
• urinary or bowel problems
